WARDOGS INTEL
NEWS CONFIRMED LAST CHECKED 3 SEPTEMBER 2026

A second closed beta, 3-6 September, and a major announcement

OVERVIEW

BULKHEAD is running a second closed beta for WARDOGS from 3 September at 18:00 UTC to 6 September at 08:00 UTC, and the studio says it will make a major announcement about the game at the moment it opens. Both statements come from the game’s own Steam store page, which we read on 3 September 2026. Access is guaranteed to anyone who has pre-ordered; everyone else is told that wider playtest access will be granted in waves, with no criteria published for who gets in or when. This is the last test before Early Access begins on 10 September, one week later.

HISTORY

This is the second closed test in three weeks. The first ran from 21 to 23 August 2026 and was announced on 11 August alongside the Early Access date. What has changed between the two is the framing: the August weekend was presented as a chance to try the game before buying, while this one is described by the studio, in its own words, as a genuine scale test where it wants players to jump in and break its systems. That is a load test, and saying so publicly a week before launch is a choice. The same store page also points undecided buyers towards first-impression videos made by players, and towards an official developer video titled Ten Reasons Not to Buy WARDOGS — a studio arguing against its own pre-order is not something we have seen on another store page.

WHAT IT CHANGES IN PRACTICE

The practical shape is unchanged from August, and it is worth stating plainly because it decides what you do today. A pre-order buys guaranteed entry. Anything else is a queue with no published rules, and BULKHEAD says access arrives in waves rather than all at once, so not getting in at 18:00 UTC does not mean being excluded for the whole window. That window is short: it closes on 6 September at 08:00 UTC, roughly sixty-two hours after it opens. One thing has quietly changed since August, and we only know it because we archived the earlier version of the page: the store listing used to tell buyers, in the same paragraph, to feel free to refund if the beta did not convince them. That sentence is no longer there on 3 September. We are not going to read intent into a deleted line, and Steam’s general refund policy is unaffected by what a store page says. But the invitation is gone, and if you pre-order for this window you should know it was there and is not any more.

WHAT PLAYERS GET WRONG

The mistake to avoid is treating a scale test as a preview of the finished game. The studio has said what it wants from these days — players stressing its systems until something breaks — so instability during the window is the point of the exercise, not evidence about the launch build. Updated on 4 September 2026: the announcement scheduled for 18:00 UTC has now been made, and this page said it would be updated once it could be read rather than predicted. It has been. The reveal was a clip competition with a real-cash prize rather than anything about the game, and our entry on it carries what the official page publishes and what it still does not. Nothing announced that evening changed the Early Access date, the price, the platform or the contents of the game. Our page on the release date carries what is established about 10 September.

WHAT CHANGES ON 10 SEP

Early Access makes the game itself citable. We will re-check this entry against the game, confirm or correct what it says, and update the checked date. If anything here turns out to be wrong, this page will say so — and say when we learned it.
